The Fine Silver contacts are mostly produced under smelting process.  Because of the best electrical and thermal conductivity of silver, silver-based alloys are widely used as contact materials for various types of switches. The sterling silver series of contact materials are susceptible to fusion and material transfer at medium to high loads due to low hardness, which is limited by low current applications. Adding a small amount of strengthening phase such as nickel, magnesium and other elements could cause a dispersion strengthening silver-based effect.  In this way, the hardness and wear resistance could be improved to make up for the shortcomings of pure silver.
