Copper Tungsten Series (CuW)
Copper Tungsten (CuW) contacts with advantages of good fusion resistance, high wear resistance, good corrosion resistance , anti-welding property and lower coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE). It’s cheaper when comparing with Silver Tungsten (AgW) contact; however copper of oxidation potential thus CuW contacts mainly used in oil switches. CuW contacts could reduce surface temperature when copper evaporation by absorbing Joule heating during operation under high heat/temperature. Therefore CuW contacts widely applied in high-voltage vacuum switches and high-current circuit-breakers.
